In 2021, MARTA Army collected Kudos from MARTA riders. We received many entries recognizing the the excellent service and friendliness demonstrated by MARTA transit workers. Below is just one entry we received for a cashier named Tim at the Sandy Springs station:

The train on which my son was later than I expected (he had taken a later train), and I asked Tim for information. He went out of his way to help me contact my son and learn that the train would arrive shortly. Tim was very polite and helpful, and he should be recognized for his kindness. Thank you, Tim!

All Kudos received were sent to MARTA HR to be entered into the employees record as a job well done.

In addition, MARTA Army delivered cookies to transit operators for Transit Operator Appreciation Day on March 18th!

2020 and Earlier

Congratulations to Previous Winners!

The first annual award ceremony was hosted on March 18th 2016 in honor National Transit Worker Appreciation Day. Each nominated worker received the prestigious Medal of Achievement. A panel of judges reviewed all the nominations and selected a winner based on the commendation.

Nathaniel Smith won the MARTA Kudos award in 2016 for his exceptional valor in the line of duty

Nate is one of the friendliest and most outgoing bus driver I have EVER encountered. He is known and knows everyone on the route 3 bus from 5 Points to Candler Park Station. I see him lift customer’s spirits, help out of town visitors get to their destinations, and generally show an elevated sense of gallantness and humor for all the denizens along the route and those lucky enough to ride with him. He is a positive ambassador for MARTA and should be acknowledged as such. I ride with him a couple times a week for a couple years now and he is unfailingly excellent in his job. So this is for the accumulated acts of niceness and humor which he brings to his job, not just a single days work. Kudos to Nate.
